People from workplaces across Ireland came together at the Sandymount Hotel on Thursday 17 September to take on the Icy Plunge for Asthma and raise vital funds for the Asthma Society of Ireland.

Now in its second year, the Icy Plunge brought teams and individuals together for a memorable challenge in support of children and families living with asthma.

From the nerves before taking the plunge to the screams, laughs and celebrations afterwards, participants showed incredible team spirit and solidarity with the one in ten children with asthma in Ireland.

A huge thank you to our Plungers

We want to say a huge thank you to everyone who took part, fundraised, donated and supported the Icy Plunge.

The money raised will help the Asthma Society continue its work providing trusted information, expert support, education, and advocacy for people with asthma.

We were also delighted to have three fantastic ambassadors supporting the challenge.

Rory O’Connor (Rory’s Stories) took on the plunge himself, while sharing his own experience of growing up with asthma and why supporting children and families living with asthma matters to him.

Ger Brennan also braved the cold and helped us raise awareness of the challenge, including taking part in our live Ireland AM feature in the lead-up to the event.

Orla Comerford, Paralympic sprinter and World Para Athletics champion, supported the campaign by sharing her experience of growing up with asthma and highlighting the importance of having the right support to help children stay active and pursue their ambitions.

We’d also like to thank Sandymount Hotel, our Host Partner, for welcoming us back for a second year, as well as everyone who helped make the event possible.

The fundraising continues

While the plunge itself is over, fundraising remains open until World Lung Day on 25 September.

There is still time to support the Icy Plunge and help us reach our fundraising target.

Every donation helps the Asthma Society continue its work supporting people and families living with asthma through trusted information, specialist support, education and advocacy.

You don’t have to take the plunge to make a difference.

Thank you to everyone who helped make the Icy Plunge for Asthma 2026 such a memorable day – and for helping us make every plunge count.
