The Asthma Society of Ireland is calling on people living with asthma, parents and supporters to contact their local TDs and ask them to support better and more affordable asthma care in Budget 2027.
Our Pre-Budget Submission 2027 – Backing Every Breath, Building Better Care sets out a number of priorities to improve asthma care in Ireland, including our call for affordable access to MART combination inhalers, with an initial focus on making MART free for young people aged 12–17.

Cost should never be a barrier to accessing the medication people with asthma need. Our recent research found that 46% of people said asthma places a financial strain on their household, while almost 1 in 10 parents said they had gone without their child’s prescribed asthma medication because of financial pressures.
We’re asking supporters to contact their local TDs and call on them to:
We’ve made it quick and easy to contact your TD through our Uplift campaign. Your message will help show politicians that people with asthma want action and that improving respiratory health must be a priority.
On 24 September, we will bring politicians and leading respiratory organisations together at our World Lung Day event at Buswells Hotel, Dublin.
The event will provide an opportunity to highlight the challenges facing people living with respiratory conditions and to discuss the action needed to improve respiratory health in Ireland ahead of Budget 2027.
But political action also depends on hearing directly from the people affected. By contacting your TD, you can help make sure that the experiences and priorities of people living with asthma are heard as decisions about Budget 2027 are made.
It only takes a few minutes to contact your TD — but every message helps.
Thank you for standing with the Asthma Society of Ireland.
