World Lung Day 2024: New report highlights how chronic respiratory diseases can be addressed

25 Sep 2024

Chronic respiratory diseases (CRDs) are some of the most common non-communicable diseases globally, yet they receive limited attention from the public and policymakers. Without action, more people with CRDs will remain undiagnosed and untreated. This new report from The Health Policy Partnership, released for World Lung Day 2024 (September 25), outlines how CRDs can be addressed.

This report identifies four major areas of focus within which tangible steps must be taken to help realise this approach.

These are:

  1. Primary prevention and population health
  2. Proactive detection and early diagnosis
  3. Improved access to high-quality care
  4. The need for strategic and supportive policies

The measures outlined within each of these areas will ensure that the burden of CRDs can be tackled today and in the future.
